Fundraiser Update: Jesus HAS Some Water Buffaloes for Christmas
Drum roll…baddabadda badda badda
As most of you know, we’ve been hosting a ‘nacle wide fundraiser for Heifer International. I’m happy to announce that we’ve SURPASSED our goal of raising $1,000 for a “Milk Menagerie.” Currently, Team Bloggernacle has drummed up $1,060–enough for the MM plus a trio of bunnies! I quote from HI:
The gift of a Milk Menagerie represents a quality-breed heifer, two goats and a water buffalo - four milk-producing animals for hardworking families hoping to provide a better life for their children. With training for recipient families, each animal in the Menagerie will produce gallon after gallon of wonderful, life-sustaining milk. And as the families “pass on the gift” of offspring to neighbors in need, over time a Milk Menagerie will end hunger and despair one child, one family and one village at a time.
Enthusiastic thanks to all who have linked to this project on their blogs or donated thus far: as the animals reproduce and communities grow, your gift will continue to bless people across the globe! I also extend a renewed invitation to join our efforts and help even more people.
I’ve long thought that the effects of small acts of kindness ripple past our view. Yesterday, bloggernacle community member “cantinflas” graciously emailed me and confirmed my hopes. With his permission, I share the following:
I just wanted to let you know that I had never heard of the interesting microcredit charity Heifer international before your post and drive for a naccle Milk Menagerie. My company was looking for something interesting to get our clients for Christmas other than a lame pen set or fruit basket. Last year we did the Salvation Army donations because nobody could think of anything better, but I mentioned this to my boss yesterday and it looks like we’ll give $100 contributions to something for HI. We usually give something like this to at least 25 people, so that’s 2.5 milk menageries you can be happy to have helped with.
Congratulations, Team Bloggernacle–your goodness has rippled past the confines of our group. And thanks cantiflas for sharing the word. Excellent idea!

That is really cool. Good job, Lisa. This is a great effort.

Sorry I’ve been out of it for awhile. (Long, uninteresting story.) But I’ve added a hive of honeybees to the ark.
