Gordon Bitner Hinckley Memoriam
In his fifteen years at the church’s helm, President Hinckley emphasized growth of not only church membership numbers, but of individual member’s bodies and spirits via the humanitarian program and the Perpetual Education fund. Fittingly, his family has requested that we honor the prophet’s legacy via donations which will continue to benefit others long after roses or lilies would die.
Because the prophet also valued community, we thought it fitting that members of the FMH circle be able to donate while maintaining the community ties which link us in friendship here on the ‘nacle. LDS Philanthropies has kindly set up “Hinckley Housewives” hyperlinks directly earmarked as ours.

I’m sure going to miss him. I’m going to donate on the tithing slip but thanks for offering this service.

It was actually Artemis’ idea–I just got LDS Philanthropies to set it up for us.

I love the perpetual education fund. What an inspired program! We donate regularly on the tithing slip.

I will miss him deeply. I first met him when I was a kid - maybe 9 or 10, he made an impact even then.
And, since I have a career in communications/PR/marketing, I looked up to him on a professional level as well.

Are you aware that all these links go to the same place? Are they supposed to different?
Comment by The Wiz — February 2, 2008 @ 6:36 pm
They’re slightly different, actually, but it’s easy to miss. I get a daily email report, if you can believe it.
EDIT: oh durnit, they are the same now, and NOT what they were yesterday. I can’t call the fellow who set this up for me until Monday, however. THe URL that now appears with the links isn’t the same as the ones he set up originally which is confusing, but at least they still get to the essentially the same routes. I wonder if too many people were asking for dedicated URLs or what. I’ll see if I can figure it out, but it will likely take ’til Monday. Of course, the only difference is that donations won’t be earmarked as from the Hinckely Housewives–the money, however, will still go to the same places you designate on the donation form.

It is one of my most burning questions, when we are told that a man /woman can’t take his worldly goods into Heaven to wonder about the City of Enoch.
After all that was a whole city, presumably with plumbing, pets, food and everything.

Nice idea. We give $5 each time we pay tithing to the various things on the slip - PEF is one of my favorites.
(PS - Wasn’t he prophet for 13 years….not 15…?)
