In lieu of flowers Artemis has suggested a donation to Heifer International.
Let’s send Grace back home with an ark for the hungry children of the world.
The Ark is a great idea. I just finished raising $10,000 for two of them a couple weeks ago via a local 5K race and 1 mile fun run that I’m involved with.
For those who are uninitiated with Heifer and the work they do, I can only add my own testimonial to what a truly worthwhile cause this is. The direct, positive impact they have on the lives of individual souls can’t be understated. As I’ve worked on this race committee the past 2 years, I’ve been able to hear so many stories about the ways they’ve changed the world with their efforts. They’re truly inspiring.
So if you’ve been looking for an organization you can get behind, look at Heifer. I know there are countless causes and passions that we can invest our energy, time and money to, but few are able to make as significant a difference for people who truly need it as Heifer. They do a remarkable job.
I can’t think of any way to better honor the sweet life of beautiful little Grace. ♥
I am so sorry for your loss. I started painting again after having 7 pregnancy losses- It was healingfor me to find a way to memorialize their beauty and the way that touched my life however briefly in a way that can bring more beauty and goodness to the world.
As a (mostly) lurker, I feel compelled to come out say with a heavy heart I join with those mourning the circumstances of Grace’s short life. I’ve been touched more than Artemis can ever know over the years in the bloggernacle by her thoughts and words. I hope she and her family find some sense of strength in this community’s outpouring of prayers.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Artemis. I know we don’t know each other in real life, but I feel I know you, and I’ve wept for your loss. You are in my prayers.
Artemis, I’ve been thinking of you constantly since I heard the sad news. I am so sorry and I will gladly give for the memorial Ark gift. I’m tearing up, I’d give anything you asked.
Kerri, they don’t accept pay pal (at least not that I could see) but any major credit card will work. If someone wants to do pay pal, or if you are having trouble donating because you’re out of the country (like Rebecca), contact me and we can set something up. fmhlisa at gmail dot com.
If you want to donate under your name, click on “join our team” and your name will be listed with your donation. They ask for a $10 “registration” which is actually just the minimum donation (it will be added to whatever total you donate).
If you click on “General team donation” your donation will be added to that fund (without your name showing) and you can donate any amount.
Also, someone (NM) clicked on my name and donated $100 through my personal page, which is totally fine, it still goes to the same worthy cause, I just wanted her to know that was where the money went since her name wasn’t listed.
I accidentally did the same thing when my 7yo buttercup wanted to give her birthday money $20 that she’d been saving since last september. So her name didn’t show either, which disappointed her. She’s very sad about Baby Grace, and very happy that she bought chicks for hungry children.
Under general donation, it looks like you still have to donate at least $10.00. It probably costs so much to process the card that any amoung less than that won’t leave any to go towards the animals, so it makes sense to have the minimum. Just thought I’d let others know that there is a minimum under general donation as well.
Artemis, I’ve been crying for you this weekend. I’m so sorry.
Thanks, fMhLisa, for letting me know where my donation went. I was confused, but that’s nothing new. My thoughts and prayers are with Artemis. I love Heifer as a great place to make my donations. It’s wonderful to know that all this thoughtful energy is going to such a worthy cause.
I normally just read here, but I must tell you, Artemis, that tears are shed and a prayer said for you at my home now. I lost a little girl almost Grace’s size due to pPROM. It was a defining moment in my life. Wishing you peace, love, and divine Grace as your body, soul and family heal from this loss. May you always keep your tender memories of and love for her close to your heart. And thank you fMh for directing us to something wonderful we can do in her honor.
A friend of mine lost a child and later helped a ward member who was suffering the same loss. My friend said, “You never get over it, but it does get better.”
We join with all the others–some who’ve commented and many who haven’t–who are offering prayers for comfort.
I love Hiefer Internationall, and think this is a wonderful memorial.
Artemis,
I am so sorry for your loss. The ark for Grace is a beautiful idea. The moment I read your post, I have been visualizing the baby I lost so long ago, welcoming your child with great love.
Artemis,
Our family is sending our love and prayers to yours. We are so sorry for your loss of sweet Grace. It is indicative of your giving personality that you would turn your saddness into a gift for another. Thank you.
I weep as I watch my 5-day-old sleeping baby girl. And I find that overwhelming sadness and indescribable gratitude walk hand in hand. May the strength and love of so many prayers make it to your heart, Artemis. There really are no words.
i have to say…. i’m so impressed with all of you who have donated. talk about putting your money where your mouth is? we are almost halfway there and it’s only been 24hrs.
Hey Brian, You donated (like NM) under my personal page, which is why your name isn’t showing up on the list. I’d fix it if I could, but I don’t know how. But your money is there and it will go to the same good cause. I will make sure that Artemis knows about your donation.
We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. We still remember when you announced having a baby, the progress she was making, and me and my dh were terribly sad when we found out. God bless and love Grace, and we are praying for you.
