  1. ‘Cause nothing brings feminists together like an opportunity to abandon their children for the sake of sisterhood!

    I kid. I kid because I love.

  2. Who said anything about abandoning our children?

No, the proper way to do a snacker is to recruit the children to prepare and serve the food, give foot massages, and clean up afterwards. That way you involve the children, teach them valuable lessons about service, and get some time off.

  3. In all seriousness, you can bring kids. Spud’s kids will be there, mfranti, artemis, Janet will probably all bring kids, and there being so many of them, they come in all sizes for playmates.

It’s just that it’s more fun (IMO) if the kids that can’t cook or massage yet stay home with daddy!

  4. Numi, this is looking like a road trip to me! You?

  5. Where the heck is Emmett? My husband is from Rigby, so I’m half sput, aren’t I?

    Comment by Bones — December 9, 2008 @ 12:47 am

  6. Oops, I meant spud. I am going to have to go back to school.

    Comment by Bones — December 9, 2008 @ 12:47 am

  7. Eris, I’m in Ogden too. If I can arrange my life to come, could I maybe hitch a ride with you guys? My email is fire at firebyrd dot net.

    Comment by Firebyrd — December 9, 2008 @ 1:52 am

  8. Hey Bones I am from Rigby, transplanted in San Diego and unable to leave permanently…ever again. But it is always nice to feel connected to my small town memories.

  9. Howdy Bones! Emmett is on the western side of the state, near Boise.

And you’re more like spud-in-law. And very welcome to come!

  10. well, i’m supposed to be having a baby that weekend, so I guess I’m out!

    Comment by mindy — December 9, 2008 @ 5:59 pm

  11. Wow, a Spud-in-Law. That is so cool. I live in Davis County, Utah, so Emmett is “do-able.” I feel like I’m a lot older than most of you (almost 47). I hope that is okay. I could be the geriatric member.

    Comment by Bones — December 12, 2008 @ 12:30 am

  12. Heck, if 47 is old, then I am in for it… okay I have a bit of time before I get there, but I am thinking like 70 is old… 47 is prime!!!

    Comment by Sunshine — December 31, 2008 @ 2:15 pm

  13. Hey Bones! I’m just across the line in Weber County. And I’m 54. Empty nest, retired and loving it! I’m also Eris’ mom. Any other mother-daughter readers out there?

We won’t be making the Snacker due to other obligations that week but we’ll be thinking about you all!

  14. Marigold asked me today, “Where’s Lisa’s Hide-a-ho?

  16. Is it sad that I am considering driving up there from SoCal, because I wimped out of the last CA meet-up? Not to mention it will be the weekend of my birthday and I still want to go.

I just answered my own question.

  19. So…I just bought plane tickets. I guess I should have asked first if I have a place to stay…. Nikki? Pretty please? :-)

Oh…and does someone wanna come get me at the airport?

    Geez I’m a lot of trouble….

    Comment by EmilyS — January 5, 2009 @ 5:25 pm

  20. I would love to attend the snacker, idahospud, if that’s okay. I realize I am a random lurker, but I promise I’m nice and only a little weird. I’m anxiously awaiting more details…

    Comment by Kori — January 13, 2009 @ 4:30 pm

  21. em, are you flying into slc? if so, i can pick you up and maybe you can drive w/ me.

    Comment by mfranti — January 13, 2009 @ 4:58 pm

  22. Kori, of course you can come, most of us (not me but it’s my blog) started out as random lurkers and we are all nice and a little weird, and we would love to meet you.

Jill, you should come, we’ll make you cake. many cakes. we love cake.

Emily, I will pick you up.

Mel, Emily is flying into Boise.

Janet, I forgot to harass you about that dissertation, but it is time to get it done!

The rest of you, I’m tired of all the lame excuses, childbirth and I live on the other side of the planet, and I have actual important things to do excuses, get your butts to Idaho. ;-)

  24. I’d give my left arm for a nice Idaho potato (potatoes here suck - although I try not to advertise that since I’ve got friends whose partners or husbands are potato farmers - but really, potatoes here S.U.C.K) but leave my beautiful summer for horrible, miserable, winter? You’ve got to be kidding! Not to mention, jet lag with a newborn, uck. But I sure hope someone eats a potato for me.

    Comment by Quimby — January 25, 2009 @ 6:57 pm

  25. I really want to come, but don’t know if its possible. It sort of stinks being so close (Idaho Falls) and being able to go.

oh, and people worried about being too old? I think I’m too young(not even 20 yet) so it’s okay.

  27. Just for clarification, the first weekend in February is the 6-7-8th rather than the 30th-31st-1st. I’ll be glad to have you if you show up this coming weekend, but you’ll miss the party and I’ll probably just put you to work!

    Comment by idahospud — January 27, 2009 @ 1:40 pm

  28. I’m so despondent. I’d love to go.

Unfortunately, I’m on doctor-ordered travel restriction of more than 45 minutes, due to DVT in my calf/knee.

I’ll be lucky to ever leave SLC in 2009. :(

    Comment by Sara — January 28, 2009 @ 6:16 pm

  29. Sara, Shelah and I are planning to be in SLC in late march. As soon as we have some plans finalized, we can plan a SLC snacker! yipppeeee!

    Comment by fMhLisa — January 28, 2009 @ 6:20 pm

  30. Yippeeee!

I’m having serious issues dealing with potentially not being cleared to travel more than an hour for months on end, and am vigorously mounting a “Visit SLC” campaign for all my friends and family - the dept. of tourism should hire me. :)
