OZ: We should figure out what kinda deal this is. I mean, is it a gathering, a shindig, or a hootenanny?
CORDELIA: What’s the difference?
OZ: Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig — dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage; and hootenanny, well, it’s chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

Come for a few hours or the whole weekend–we’ll be enjoying the last shimmers of the summer solstice and we might just have to have ourselves a pagan ritual or two . . . . .
Unfortunately, this date conflicts with Segullah’s Writing Retreat (which means we lose Shelah, as well as those of you who will be attending Segullah’s fabulous workshops); however, the esteemed Emily S. is flying in from New Yawk and maaaannn, is she worth it!
Details:
Place: Idahospud’s pad in Emmett, Idaho (email fmhidahospud AT gmail for directions)
Time: Friday, June 25 at 7pm - Sunday, June 27 at 1pm (-ish; come early or stay late, whatever!)
Schedule: Potluck Snacker and up-all-nighter on Friday; Saturday’s schedule is TBD but may include: a Buffy marathon, swimming/boating at Black Canyon Dam Reservoir, bike rides, long or short walks, a humanitarian project, a summer solstice ceremony and bonfire, or whatever we wanna do once we wake up–then we’ll go out for dinner at a TBD restaurant (prolly in Boise); Sunday we’ll roll out of bed, eat, pack up, and disperse (Sacrament Mtg at 11 for whoever is interested). There will most certainly be delicious food, knitting lessons, and all kinds of feminist fun.
Bring: Something yummy for the snacker on Friday, your toothbrush and pillow, any handwork project you like to do while sitting and chatting, and money for the Saturday night dinner out.
I think it will be a hootenanny!

fMhLisa - I just might take you up on that offer for a Buffy introduction one of these weeks. Do you really get together every week? My MIL gets back into town soon and I could SO use a break from the youngins one of these days.

Hey guys, while you are having fun……Pleeeze discuss getting your 72 hr. emergency backpacks ready, I was evacuated in the Tennessee flooding……water all around my house up to the door when rescue came, news 2 filmed DH being carried to the dry ground….Have a blast, but get ready for whatever comes.
It is sooooo worth the calm and peace knowing you have meds and clean undies!…..you can relax knowing you and your loved ones are ready.
That way you can have a snakker even floating, hee hee!

I have to agree–I’m a recent convert. Though Joss got it all wrong, Riley was The One.
I’m coming. I may even come waaay early and try to talk Spud into letting me help. But she’s stubborn, so it will take a lot of work.

Since I’m visiting my parents, this is the closest I’ve ever been to a snacker, but since it’s still 5.5 hours away and I have 3 kids and no husband along with me, it’s still probably not an option. It was fun to dream, though.
