How do I describe myself?
mmmmmmmmmmmmm…I’m a very active person!
In addition to being the evil power hungry moderator of fMh, I’m a mother to a fantastic teenage daughter and partner to one great man. I play hockey, I dig in the dirt, I ride bikes (mountain, road, and cruiser types) I teach English to immigrants/refugees and I snowboard.
Phew! Did I leave anything out?
Oh yeah, I’m a full time student at the UofU learning about Geography and Remote Sensing. I’m hoping to gain some useful skill when I’m done paying the state obscene amounts of money for a little piece of paper. I’m also getting a second B.S. in Environmental Studies but that’s just frosting.
Unlike my blog sisters (and little brother) I don’t read books. I just don’t love them the way they do. They’re a time suck and when you’re as active (read: I can’t sit still) as I am, it’s really hard to justify time spent in the horizontal position reading fiction.
I’ve been hanging around fMh since 2006ish and this community has become a major part of my life. I wouldn’t say it revolves around it, but on a scale of 1 to 5, it’s in there and it’s not number 1 nor is it number 5.
I love this place. I love you people.

Hi Melanie,
I sent you a message on Sept. 16 to your e-mail address that I got through the campus information system. But since you never responded, I am assuming you never got it.
So I thought I would try this method! I hope you get this soon and that you will say yes to my following request.
I am writing to ask if you would be willing to be on a panel at the Counterpoint conference this year, which will be on Saturday, Oct. 24, here at the Univ. of Utah in the Student Union.
Our theme this year is “Women in Dialogue about Faith.” We got the idea from a book called *Faith Club* where 3 women–a Muslim, Christian, and Jew–form a book club to try to understand each other’s beliefs more. While our conference focuses more on Mormon women, they are still women with different perspectives. We would like you to be on a panel that explores the way blogging and internet groups help women cope and understand both their own faith and that of their sisters. This is related to what you did at Sunstone on the blogging panel, so you could use that, if you like.
By “faith” we are speaking in a very broad context to include both personal belief, hope, etc., as well as one’s religious community. How does blogging help you understand and work through your own beliefs? How does it either increase or challenge your religious core? What have you learned about other women? Do you feel more or less committed to Mormonism and the LDS Church? Have you become acquainted with women of other faiths through this experience?
There are many directions to take this. Just go with what feels interesting to you. You will have about 12-15 minutes.
I hope this sounds appealing to you and that you are free to join us that day.
Let me know as soon as you can.
Warm regards,
Margaret Toscano

those are not dimples, those are craters on the side of my face.
aren’t they supposed to go away when you become a real grown-up?
oh, that totally explains it…

What do you mean grow up? You look like you’re 16.

And I mean that in a good way. Now I’m not going to put my pic up because I think we’re the same age, but I look 20 years older than you. I’m too . . . what’s the word? Prideful? Shallow? Pathetic? I don’t know.

Incorrect is the word you are looking for, I believe
Seriously, everyone on fmh is strong, good-looking, and above average in every way!

Enna, having met some of you IRL, I would have to say that assessment is accurate.
