I joined fMh in April 2010. I’m 23, married, and just graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where the most important thing I learned was that I really, really love Philadelphia. I’m obsessed with books and used bookstores. If you ask me to do something, and I give you a weird excuse, I was probably just ditching you to read. I was born into the church, and also into a crazy family, and both of those things have vastly influenced who I am and what I think.

Mr. Kelly is a goofy nerd. We’ve been married about 3 years (yeah, I was a young ‘un). He mostly likes comic books, video games, and me. We’re childless now, and probably will be for a while (front desk agents don’t exactly make breadwinner wages), but both of us are starting to give slightly more heartfelt ooh’s and aah’s at other people’s babies.

  1. I was going to comment on your “Perturbed over Packer” thread, but you declared it dead and cut off comments. I got my newsletter for the month of June for Relief Society today and noticed that the Ensign talk for the 4th Sunday was BKP’s talk from last conference. Boy am I glad I’m in the Primary and will miss that! There’s no way I could sit through that lesson and *not* say something. Especially the presiding over the dinner table BS.

  2. Oh man Risa. Good luck with that. If you could go, what would your coping strategy be? Would you plan on coming up with some previously-thought-out, rational, cool-headed responses, or just let yourself speak in the heat of the moment, or just sit silently in torture, or skip the class altogether?

  3. If I actually could go and didn’t have to teach my Primary class, I would probably have some well thought out comments but then lose my cool in the heat of the moment and say something that got me called into the Bishop’s office.

  4. If you ever want to get away for a weekend, I’d suggest you go to Port Townsend because they have the BEST used book store I’ve ever been to.

I don’t know why Natalie but you have a very “Yay” face, whenever I see it, I just go “YAY!!”.

  6. I love Philly too. In fact, I’m headed there on Sunday to see one of my dearest friends at a favorite Moroccan restaurant and then on to the Jersey shore- Ocean City, to be exact. Can’t wait.

I remember you were in Philly- I tried to catch you one time when we were heading there, but you were just leaving. Maybe we’ll catch each other some time, I’m there often. Will you be at Sunstone?

  7. ssj, thanks for the recommendation. I consider a good used book store to be worth a long journey in and of itself.

AndieP, glad I could be of service. :)

Kimberly, which Moroccan place? I, tragically, do not live in Philly anymore. Sigh. I’m in Seattle now, which is also a cool city. But Philly is really incredible. Let me know for sure if you ever make it to Seattle. I think there’s a Sunstone here in the fall sometime…… I can’t make it to the Utah one.
